With the goal to develop science-based tools for locally led marine conservation through generating knowledge and networking in the Bay of Bengal region, the annual Marine Conservation and Blue Economy Symposium (MCBES) was first held in 2015 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As the main organizer of the symposium, ‘Save Our Sea’ believes that we need to go beyond the limitations of science, employ it for re-shaping policy for conservation of our marine ecosystems and its biodiversity.

To this end, for two consecutive years, the MCBES has brought together conservationists, communities, businesses, policy makers, researchers and academicians on the occasion of World Oceans Day.
